One hundred eighty-three New Mexico students entered the 2023 contest. In Level 1, there were 91 entries with 41 letters advancing to round two and 20 letters advancing to the final round of judging. In Level 2, there were 50 entries with 22 letters advancing to round three. In Level 3, there were 42 total entries with 23 letters in the final round three state judging. All writers who advanced to round three will receive an award certificate in the mail. From the round 3 state finalists, the state judges selected three champions, three second place writers, three third place writers, and nine honorable mention letters. Many New Mexico schools and home schooled students from around the state participate in the competition. We appreciate the support of teachers, librarians, and parents for Letters About Literature.
